When we get out of the glass bottle of our ego and when we escape like the squirrels in the cage of our personality and get into the forest again, we shall shiver with cold and fright. But things will happen to us so that we don’t know ourselves. Cool, unlying life will rush in.
Not PICTURED (this will be a pun in a flash), are four rolls of film that I plan to take with me to…
Scotland!! And..Ireland!! I get to travel to these countries with two of my close friends and let the fresh inspiration fill my heart and break it and put it back together and fill it again.
We’ve been planning this trip since April and ever time I think about it, I imagine sitting on a grassy cliff, breathing in salty air, simple delight, clarity, and peace. I’m going to have that moment. It’ll be great. Ah!
I think this trip is more important than I realize. Any time someone gets out of their box, they come back a slightly more alive and breathing person.
I’m bringing things that make me feel brave. Like these new boots that I can romp around in anywhere. They’re the kind of shoes a strong women would wear. And then I’m bringing things that make me feel at home. Like my favorite tye-dye shirt I wear to bed. Things for sentimental value- my mom’s beret that she wore when she was my age. Probably wore it in Europe as well. Then something that will make me feel renewed: a journal. And known: my friends. The last couple of times I went to Europe, I went alone. It’s going to be SO NICE to share this experience with loved ones. I really don’t want it any other way.
This is the beginning of a beautiful journey, my friends.
Feel free to share experiences of Scotland & Ireland, I would love to hear! Or beautiful travel moments the wanderlust heart often has.
The rose of all the world is not for me.
I want for my part
Only the little white rose of Scotland
That smells sharp and sweet – and breaks the heart.
